INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. Position the Tool
Place the wide part of the “V” opening flat against the skin, just behind where the tick is attached.
2. Slide and Secure
Slide the tool forward so that the tick’s body enters the narrowing slot. Continue sliding until the tick is firmly wedged in the narrowest part of the “V.” This ensures you are gripping the tick as close to the skin as possible, near its head.
3. Lift or Pull
Depending on the specific tool’s design, use one of these two motions:
- The Slide-Out: Continue sliding the tool forward along the skin in a steady, straight motion until the tick is pulled out.
- The Lever: Apply a gentle upward and forward “prying” motion to lift the tick out of the skin.
- Important: Avoid twisting or jerking, as this can cause the tick’s mouthparts to break off and remain in the skin.
4. Aftercare
- Disinfect: Clean the bite area and the tool thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, an iodine scrub, or soap and water.
- Dispose or Save: Dispose of the tick by putting it in alcohol, placing it in a sealed bag/container, or flushing it down the toilet. Do not crush it with your fingers.
- Monitor: Keep an eye on the bite site for several weeks for any signs of a rash or flu-like symptoms.
